- Artificial Intelligence for Large-Scale Computer-Assisted ReasoningS2 · Official institutional · Official announcement
The project focused on large and complex theories, learning from reasoning traces, feedback loops between deduction and learning, and knowledge accumulation across multiple mathematical representation styles.
The European Commission records AI4REASON as starting on 1 September 2015 with the goal of developing AI methods that combine automated reasoning and machine learning into independent self-improving systems.
AI4REASON helped consolidate learning-guided automated reasoning into a sustained, explicitly named AI research program immediately before the deep-learning theorem-proving wave represented by DeepMath and related systems.
Significance rationale: The ERC-funded AI4REASON project institutionalized a multi-year research agenda explicitly combining machine learning, automated reasoning and self-improving deduction–learning loops over large formal, semi-formal and informal corpora.
